SpaceX, in partnership with FIFA World Cup and Qatar Airways, successfully flew two official footballs to space and back for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The balls were carried on a Falcon 9 rocket, which blasted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida.
Once in space, the footballs orbited Earth for several hours before being brought back down to the planet’s surface. The balls were then transported back to Qatar on a Qatar Airways airplane.
This historic feat marks the first time that official footballs have been flown to space and back. The balls will now be used in the opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which is taking place in Qatar right now.
The partnership between SpaceX, FIFA, and Qatar Airways has been met with much excitement from fans of both football and space exploration. Many are calling the mission a true “marriage” of these two passions.
The successful flight of the footballs is also a major milestone for SpaceX and its Starlink team. The company has been working on its Starlink satellite network, which aims to provide high-speed internet access to remote areas of the world.
The use of the Falcon 9 rocket in the mission showcases SpaceX’s ability to reliably and safely transport objects to and from space. The successful flight is also a testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to advancing space technology and exploration.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is set to be a historic event, and the successful flight of the official footballs to space and back is just one of the many exciting moments that fans can look forward to. With SpaceX, FIFA, and Qatar Airways working together, it’s clear that this tournament will be one for the ages.
