SpaceX is set to send an additional 10,000+ #Starlink kits to Ukraine, where the company’s satellite internet service already has over 100,000 users. The move comes after Russia invaded the country in March 2022, causing widespread disruption to traditional internet infrastructure.
Initially, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had stated that it was not sustainable for the company to maintain coverage in Ukraine without additional funding from the US government going forward. However, he later announced that SpaceX would continue supporting the country regardless of whether it receives funding or not.
It was estimated that maintaining starlink service for Ukraine was costing millions of dollars for each day for SpaceX apart from over $100 million in launch and security cost to keep the service running.
The deployment of the additional Starlink kits will help to provide a stable and reliable internet connection to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. The service has already proven to be popular in the country, with over 100,000 users already taking advantage of the high-speed, low-latency internet connection.

SpaceX has previously demonstrated its commitment to providing internet access to underserved and disadvantaged communities around the world. The company’s Starlink program aims to bring connectivity to remote and rural areas, and has already been deployed in a number of countries including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
SpaceX recently announced that they reached one million customers for its starlink service.
The deployment of the additional kits in Ukraine is just the latest example of SpaceX’s commitment to providing internet access to those in need. It is hoped that the company’s efforts will help to bring some much-needed stability and connectivity to the war-torn country.
