SpaceX Starlink has disputed claims that Russia is using their terminals in the ongoing Ukraine war, stating that they do not conduct any business with the Russian government or military.

No Sales or Marketing in Russia

Starlink has clarified that their service is not active in Russia and that they have never sold or marketed their equipment in the country. They have also denied shipping any equipment to locations in #Russia.

Dubai Not a Point of Sale

#Starlink has also stated that they do not operate in Dubai and that their equipment cannot be purchased there. They have not authorized any third-party intermediaries, resellers, or distributors to sell Starlink in Dubai.

Terminals Deactivated if Used by Unauthorized Parties

If SpaceX obtains knowledge that a Starlink terminal is being used by a sanctioned or unauthorized party, they investigate the claim and take actions to deactivate the terminal if confirmed.

SpaceX’s Role in Restoring Communication in #Ukraine

SpaceX has been instrumental in restoring communication in Ukraine since the Russian invasion and was at one point the only available satellite internet operator as Russian forces took down all others.

Financial Burden Reduced by US Military Purchase

Elon Musk and SpaceX previously stated that they sent terminals out of their own funds for a long time and spent more than $100 million to keep the service up in the region. The US military later purchased the Starlink services for the region to reduce the financial burden on the company.

Starlink’s Growing Customer Base and Revenue

As of the end of 2023, Starlink has more than 2 million paying customers with #billions in revenue. SpaceX has finally been able to have a profitable quarter due to revenue from the Starlink division.
