Tesla China has reported record deliveries in November, with 100,291 vehicles handed over to customers in the month. The impressive numbers bring Tesla China’s total for the year so far to 650,000, marking a new all-time high for the company.

The strong sales performance in China is a major boost for Tesla, which has been working to expand its presence in the world’s largest automotive market, after a few tough months in 2022 due to Covid lowdowns. Tesla’s success in China has been driven by the popularity of its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, especially Model Y which has been well-received by Chinese consumers.

The strong sales numbers in November also come as Tesla continues to ramp up production at its Shanghai Gigafactory. The facility, which opened in 2019, has been key to Tesla’s success in China, allowing the company to manufacture vehicles locally and avoid import tariffs.

Giga Shanghai is currently producing the Model Y, Model 3, and Model Y Long Range, with the Model Y Long Range being the most popular model in China. The facility is also expected to begin producing the Model S and Model X in the near future.

It also acts as the export hub for Tesla’s vehicles for the rest of the world except North America, with the company exporting vehicles to key markets like Japan, South Korea, and European countries. The reported number are both export and local sales.

Overall, Tesla’s strong sales performance in China is a testament to the company’s ability to succeed in the competitive automotive market. The impressive numbers are a promising sign for the future of the company and its ability to continue growing its presence in the world’s largest automotive market.

Update: Tesla China only exported 37,798 in November and the rest are delivered to local customers which is a huge month of sales in China. The model Y version made up the lion share of the sales which accounted for 69,098 of 100,291. With this momentum and the production ramp up of Giga Berlin and Giga Austin, Model Y is very much on track to be the best selling car in the world in 2023.
