Tesla announced that its Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta is now available on 285,000 cars in North America. The FSD beta package, which costs $15,000, can be purchased or subscribed to on a monthly basis for $200.

This news marks a significant milestone for Tesla as the company continues to make progress on its goal of achieving fully autonomous driving capabilities.

The FSD beta includes a number of advanced features, such as the ability to navigate city streets and highways, recognize traffic lights and stop signs, and automatically change lanes. It also allows the car to park itself and come pick you up when summoned.

While the FSD beta is still in the testing phase and requires constant driver supervision, it marks a major step towards the eventual deployment of fully self-driving vehicles.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long been a vocal advocate for the potential of autonomous driving, and the company has made significant progress in recent years towards achieving this goal.

In addition to the FSD beta, Tesla has also developed a number of other advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that are available on its vehicles, including Autopilot and Navigate on Autopilot.

While there is still much work to be done before fully autonomous vehicles are a reality, the availability of the FSD beta on 285,000 cars in North America is a significant step towards that future.

It remains to be seen how the technology will be received by the public, but Tesla’s efforts to bring self-driving cars to the market are certainly worth watching.
