Ever since Twitter come into limelight as a micro blogging app, there hasn’t been much of growth in user base compared to other social media apps like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Twitters monthly active users count has been stuck between 200 million to 300 million for the past Decade where the company grown in terms of Staff from ~2000 to ~7500 at its peek until Elon musk’s takeover.
All this is about to change according to its new owner and CEO, Elon thinks with its new products and innovation in product development, Twitter as a platform will have a billion Monthly users in the coming 12 to 18 months which would be in 2024. Elon made the prediction in a tweet after what seems to be an internal meeting over the future roadmap of the company. Elon shared some notes from the meeting which includes the future plans for monetization of content from tweets to videos.
I think I see a path to Twitter exceeding a billion monthly users in 12 to 18 months
This is a bold and ambitious prediction even for Elon musk, as that implied almost 400% increase in Active user base in one year, especially with lots of great platforms that are already doing everything they can to make the users spend as much time as possible in their respective apps. Elon is famously off with his timelines so let’s see how this will one hold up in the 2024.
It would be another great achievement for Elon if he can steer the company into profit and grow the user base by at least 100% in the said time, that is unless it gets canceled out and kicked out of App Stores, which is highly unlikely.
