Twitter has started rolling out a new feature for its platform: gold check marks for brands and companies. The gold check mark will be reserved for verified accounts belonging to businesses and organizations, while the traditional blue check mark will continue to be used for individuals. In addition, Twitter plans to introduce a gray check mark for government accounts in the coming weeks.
The move comes as part of Twitter’s new subscription service, called #Twitter Blue, which offers users a range of premium features for a monthly fee of $11 or $8.
Twitter has long been criticized for the way it verifies accounts, with some users feeling that the blue check mark has become a status symbol and is only given to a select few. The introduction of the gold check mark for businesses and organizations is seen by some as a way for Twitter to address these concerns and make its verification system more transparent.
The gold check mark will only be available to businesses and organizations that have been verified by Twitter. To be verified, a company or organization must provide Twitter with proof that it is a legitimate business or organization, and must follow Twitter’s rules and policies.
Many businesses and organizations are likely to be excited about the prospect of receiving a gold check mark, as it will help them to stand out on the platform and build trust with their followers. However, some users have raised concerns about the potential for abuse, as it will be possible for businesses and organizations to buy Twitter Blue subscriptions in order to obtain a gold check mark.

The change in checkmark colors was due to the fake and scam accounts that were verified by Twitter in it’s initial rollout of paid blue checkmark and twitter is hoping that this will protect the brands from any potential abuse.
Twitter is also adding “This account is verified because it’s an official business on Twitter” when clicked on the gold checkmark. This will help the users to understand the difference between the blue and gold checkmark.
Overall, the introduction of the gold check mark is seen as a positive development for businesses and organizations on Twitter. It will provide them with a way to differentiate themselves from individuals and build trust with their followers. At the same time, however, it remains to be seen whether the gold check mark will be abused, and whether it will be successful in addressing the concerns that have been raised about Twitter’s verification system.
