Twitter postpones TwitterBlue rollout by few weeks again. The company has given that mitigating impersonation as the reason for the delay. It is speculated that the delay is due to the fact that the company rushed the initial release while still working on the product and is not ready to release it again yet.
Elon announced the delay in a tweet saying the main feature, Account Verification aka BlueTick for the paid users needs further work. This is after the initial rollout caused some problem with people creating parody account of famous people, companies and brands. This lead to some backlash from the effected users and the company had to stop the rollout.
Holding off relaunch of Blue Verified until there is high confidence of stopping impersonation.
Will probably use different color check for organizations than individuals.
Twitter also blocked the newly verified used from changing their names to further limit the parody accounts. The company is now working on a solution to the problem and will be rolling out the feature in the coming weeks. One possible solution that elon mentioned was to use different colors for the verified accounts to make it easier to distinguish between Organizational and Personal accounts.
