Twitter has announced that it will be reversing its recent policy on social media links sharing restrictions. The new policy will only target accounts that are solely used for sharing links to other platforms, rather than regular users who occasionally share links to their own social media accounts.
The list of platforms included in the policy includes Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr, and Post.
According to Elon musk, the decision to reverse the policy was made in response to feedback from users who felt that the restrictions were too strict and unfairly targeted regular users.
Policy will be adjusted to suspending accounts only when that account’s *primary* purpose is promotion of competitors, which essentially falls under the no spam rule

While the previous policy was intended to curb the spread of spam and misinformation on the platform, along with free promotion of other platforms via twitter. It had also been criticized for potentially stifling legitimate online discussions and connections.
Under the new policy, users will still be able to share links to their personal social media accounts, as long as they are not solely using their Twitter account for that purpose.
In a tweet response, Elon said that it is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy platform for all users, and will continue to monitor the situation and make any necessary adjustments to its policies.
Overall, the change to the social media links sharing policy is seen as a positive step towards striking a balance between safety and freedom of expression on the platform. It remains to be seen how effective the new policy will be in addressing the issues it was designed to address.
