Twitter has suspended the account “ElonJet”, which was known for tracking Elon Musk’s private jet and posting updates on the social media platform. The creator of the bot account, Jack Sweeney, has also been suspended. It was unclear at first why the account was suspended, but couple of hours later Elon Musk tweeted that his car with his son X in it was attacked and the account was suspended because of that.
The account, which had amassed over 200,000+ followers, was known for providing real-time updates on the location of Musk’s jet, as well as information on its destination and flight duration. The account was popular among fans of Musk and his companies, such as Tesla and SpaceX but it also seemed like a security risk for Musk and his family.
Last night, car carrying lil X in LA was followed by crazy stalker (thinking it was me), who later blocked car from moving & climbed onto hood.

Legal action is being taken against Sweeney & organizations who supported harm to my family.
Jack Sweeney, the creator of the bot account, has not yet commented on the suspension since his personal account was also suspended. It is also unclear if the suspension was temporary or permanent.

Musk tweeted that his car with his son X in it was attacked and posted a video of what appears to be a man in a black mask in a car. The video was posted with the car plate number to identify the car or the person who did it.
Musk himself previously offered to pay $5000 to get the account stop posting the information citing security risk for his personal safety but the offer was declined.
Twitter later confirmed that they are changing their privacy policy after the incident and will no longer allow users posting someone else’s live location without their consent. According to the policy, you can still post you own live location and you cam post someone else’s historical location but not live location. Live location sharing of concerts and events will still be allowed.
You can still share your own live location on Twitter. Tweets that share someone else’s historical (not same-day) location information are also not prohibited by this policy.

Regardless of the reason, the suspension of the ElonJet account has caused a stir among Musk’s critics, with many saying the account was just posting the publicly available information and did not violate any law in doing so, while others are making jokes about the situation.
It remains to be seen if and when the account will be restored, which might be highly unlikely given the recent changes in Twitter’s privacy policy.
